Much like Little Guys and my other mixed media works, these landscapes are a collection of mixed-media paintings that combine digital and traditional media. In this process I begin with a printed photograph I took of New York City. After painting and drawing over the photographs, I scan and digitally manipulate them in Photoshop. I then print these digitally altered paintings on matte paper and paint over them once again. I reiterate this process several times to produce an ambiguity between media and explore the spatial qualities and characteristics of digital and traditional mediums.
This recursive, iterative process began as an attempt to bridge different parts of my life together - combining my lifelong practice of photography and digital art with my oil painting practice.
