About

After finding several identical glass windows, I began creating these mixed-media illustrations as a proof of concept for a children’s book I planned on making. The project took a life of it’s own as I experimented with different surreal scenes all around New York City.

In this painted glass series I began by oil painting directly onto the glass panes. I ordered a custom Z-frame (a metal square on wheels) to suspend the painted windows so it appeared borderless in the photograph. After wheeling this setup all over the city to the destination spots, I positioned the paintings so they seemed to be in the background locations and photographed the scenes with a large-format camera.
